F*ck Substack - I'm staying!

I have given a lot of thought as to whether it’s worth me staying here on this platform.

I am now convinced that my content here is censored *in some way* and that my follower base must not exceed a certain amount. The numbers may little sense and there seems to be a lock on at certain number and it’s been like that for about 6 months. Nothing organic about it. In other words, my Substack is controlled in terms of reach.

I have to be honest and say this disappoints me as I naively thought that things were different here. The more work I put in, the returns do not increase. I see certain other people join, attract thousands of followers with ease, paywall most of their content and still thrive. Looking at what they write, it is milquetoast at best but perhaps that is why the platform promotes them? I am not interested in saying easy click bait stuff.

However I really like the community here, there are great people reading content here and you make brilliant and thoughtful comments which I deeply appreciate. I read everything that you say to me and I think about it all.

So I am going to STAY here, write what I want.

I have zero expectations of the platform.

I have much bigger platforms elsewhere so I don’t really need Substack but I do love to write and as I have grown to know you folks, I like writing for you.

I certainly learn lots of stuff from you and I won’t cut myself off from that just because of my intense irritation at Substack itself!

So the bad news is I am going nowhere. (You will see less output from me however)

To coin my own phrase, I will not submit and I will not comply, so Substack can algorithm away at this account, I will still say what needs said!
