Now let’s talk about public sector pay, shall we?

Do you recall back in September how the new Labour Government ended the Junior Doctor strike by offering them a 22% pay increase? Do you recall how train drivers in England, Scotland, and Wales accepted a pay deal that include a 5% backdated pay rise for 2022-2, a 4.75% rise for 2023-24 and a 4.5% increase for 2024-25?

Today comes the news that Government departments have recommended a pay rise of 2.8% for millions of public sector workers including teachers, NHS staff and senior civil servants next year. I wonder what their response was?
