Chancellor Rachel Reeves has announced plans to restrict the Winter Fuel Allowance. The benefit is between £100 and £300, depending on the age of the recipient and whether or not they live alone. Her proposals will see payments only going to pensioners who receive means tested benefits. That means around 2 million pensioners MAY lose out on a payment that helps heats their homes and that puts them at risk.
