Well, US fashion chain American Eagle has certainly caused outrage with a series of Ads featuring US actress Sydney Sweeney. Reminder - she is just selling jeans!
Obviously she is an attractive blonde hair blue eyed young lady and American Eagle are not doing anything different to that which has happened in the past. Sex sells, especially if you are in the target age group. I am sure young men will find this all very alluring and up until the era of “Body Positivity” that’s exactly what it always was.
However, over the past four or five years, images like this have gone out as they try to convince us that obesity is a good thing. Obviously it isn’t.
The American Eagle ad has triggered some news organisations to claim that American Eagle is pushing White Supremacy! Yes, really.
These people are mentally unwell.
The way I see it, there is nothing wrong about American Eagle using a young attractive actress to sell their clothes. Yes, you could argue that it is about reductionist in how it portrays women but we were all young once and at least Sweeney looks healthy.
They have nothing else in their lives and have to find something to complain about.
I am more likely to buy from somewhere when the clothes look good on their models, even if they don't look as good on me, lol.
I want that dress!!😂
