Let’s just be honest and admit that the Woke mind virus has captured the vast majority of the Arts and this is manifest in some of the bizarre casting we see in movies and TV series.
Most recently, the BBC’s new series of “Wolf Hall” has begun and features this oddity.
The black actress on the left has been cast to play Lady Margery who was Jane Seymour’s mother and whose portrait still exists (right)! Maisie Richardson-Sellers, a London-born actress of Guyanese heritage, plays Lady Bess Oughtred. Egyptian-British actor Amir El-Masry appears as poet and politician Thomas Wyatt!
The BBC thinks this is all fine. It’s important to recast historical figures with ethnic actors “for the sake of diversity” even if it is entirely historically illiterate and misleading.
