As we get closer and closer to the US Presidential election, political tensions between Israel and the USA deepen, with renowned political corpse and pretend US President Joe Biden choosing to imply that Israel is seeking to “interfere” with the US election!
President Joe Biden has said he is unsure whether Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is holding off on agreeing a Gaza ceasefire deal in order to influence next month's US election.
He was asked the question during a surprise appearance at a White House press briefing on Friday, telling reporters: "Whether he’s trying to influence the election, I don’t know - but I’m not counting on that.”
Biden then directed some terse words at his longtime ally: “No administration has helped Israel more than I have. None, none, none," he said. "And I think [Netanyahu] should remember that."
Let’s take that apart a little, shall we, because it’s odious nonsense from start to finish!
Israel has been defending itself against Hamas and Hezbollah and it has no intention of allowing any regime - even the US - to derail those twin military objectives. I think Netanyahu is correct to ignore the whining calls of the Biden regime for “cease-fires”. When you are dealing with savages such as Hamas/Hezbollah, you should press on until the job is done and that’s exactly what Israel is doing with the support of most Israelis. Why can’t Israel to what it needs to do?
The problem for Biden, of course. is that there is a strong vocal pro-Palestinian element in the Democrat base and he and Harris have to try and placate it whilst playing lip service to Israel. It’s a tricky balancing act and as Israel presses on inflicting historic damage to Hamas and Hezbollah then the cries from the radical Left for the US to pressurise Netanyahu even further will increase.
