If we look back to 1997 and the advent of the Tony Blair Labour era, we can see how the UK was dramatically opened up to immigration on a scale that we had never experienced before in our island history.
The Blair regime estimated annual net immigration of between 5,000 to 13,000. Between May 2004 and June 2006, 427,000 workers had registered to work in the UK. Almost one million immigrants had arrived by the end of the Blair/Brown government in 2010.
These huge numbers absolutely changed the face of the UK with this surge of mostly former Soviet bloc people entering the UK with the approval of Blair and Brown. Now one million people coming here in such a short time put a lot of pressure on public services but if you thought that was bad, just consider what then happened after 14 years of “Conservative rule”.
As you can see, immigration numbers continue to soar and they now absolutely dwarf the numbers let in by Labour. So 14 years of “Conservative” rule has completely failed to stop the immigration tsunami - and in all cases we are talking “Legal” immigration, - not the armada of illegals that has been crossing the English Channel for some years now.
So, what will Labour do when it once again gets its hands on the levers of power?
Well, Sir Keir Starmer has been talking about his plans and this is what he had to say.
“Sir Keir Starmer has pledged to cut levels of net migration to the UK if his party wins the general election. The Labour leader said he would introduce new laws to train British workers to plug skills gaps in the job market and strengthen anti-exploitation laws. He did not put a timeframe or a target figure on his promise, but simply said "Mark my words, a future Labour government will bring down net migration."
So he plans to cut it by “trading British workers” to up-skill themselves? Does that sound like a plan to you or does it sound like a crafted soundbite to get around the fact that Labour has no intention of deporting ANYONE who comes to our country?
For further evidence, I want to bring the thoughts of Yvette Cooper - she who will be the next Home Secretary - to your attention.
Labour will reform the apprenticeship levy to “tackle the skills gap” and decrease migration, members of the shadow cabinet have said. On Sunday, shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper and shadow education secretary Bridget Phillipson met apprentices from gas distribution company SGN to discuss their plans to create a “golden age of lifelong learning”.
This is all unmitigated left wing delusionalism and nothing being discussed will do anything to slow down the vast numbers surging into our country. In 2023, the ONS says that the 685,00 net migrants came to the UK. (That is still a figure open to revision so it might end up even higher!) This continued scale of immigration will destroy the UK and change the demographic forever. That is precisely what Starmer wants to achieve. Just look at what it has done to London - a city that increasingly un-British. That is the template being planned - and yes, it really is The Great Replacement.
