Did you see the almost surreal story concerning Jennifer Melle, a 40-year-old senior NHS nurse at St Helier Hospital in Surrey, who was suspended after a confrontation over pronoun use with a transgender patient in May 2024
Yes, pronoun use. The NHS has very clear priorities.
The patient concerned, a convicted paedophile biologically male but “identifying as female”, was under Melle’s care during a night shift. While discussing the patient’s wish to self-discharge with a doctor, Melle referred to him as “Mr.” aligning with her view of biological sex (and reality) Overhearing this, the patient reacted violently, shouting racial slurs—including the N-word—at Melle, who is Ugandan-born, and attempting to lunge at her despite being restrained by security.
Amazingly, instead of addressing the patient’s aggression, the Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust turned its focus on Melle. She was the problem to be dealt with! That’s how messed up the NHS has become, a truly national disgrace.
In October 2024, following an investigation, she received a final written warning and a referral to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) for professional misconduct. The Trust argued that her refusal to use the patient’s preferred pronouns violated its equality and diversity policies.
NHS lawyers further claimed that Melle’s belief in binary sex was “not worthy of respect in a democratic society,” dismissing her stance as incompatible with modern standards. As a result, she was reassigned to another ward—effectively a demotion—and barred from extra shifts, severely impacting her income and family life.
Melle, supported by the Christian Legal Centre, is now suing the Trust, alleging harassment, discrimination, and breaches of her human rights, including her freedom to express her beliefs under Article 9 of the European Convention on Human Rights. She contends that the NHS prioritised ideological conformity over her wellbeing, especially given the racist abuse she endured. The patient’s history as a sex offender added complexity, with Melle arguing that the Trust sided with an aggressor over a dedicated staff member with 15 years of service.
I think she is dead right!
The way in which this NHS nurse sides with a violent convicted paedophile cosplaying as a woman AGAINST an experienced nurse is a disgrace!

It's getting more and more insane. It's almost as if TPTB are seeing how far they push us before we fight back. So far, the bully is winning. Poor woman - she should go to work for a private hospital group.
The NHS is an absolute disgrace. It has doubled down on implementing this sick woke ideology. Instead of standing by a hard working member of staff, they side with a violent pervert. I hope Jennifer wins her case and takes them to the cleaners.
