There is only ONE acceptable deal on Migration. We stop ALL inward migration and deport ALL that are illegally here. That’s it. But of course that is the LAST thing that the UK Government wants to see.
So Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron have announced a “groundbreaking” one-in, one-out migrant deal to curb illegal Channel crossings. It’s so pathetic that we should take a few moments to point out the very obvious flaws in it.
Far from solving the illegal migrant crisis, this “deal” exposes Starmer’s cowardice and Macron’s leverage, leaving the UK with zero gain. The deal allows the UK to return approximately 50 migrants per week to France, but only in exchange for us accepting 50 asylum seekers per week with “ties” to the UK. Who determines the “ties”?
With over 21,000 illegal migrants crossing the Channel this year alone—a record high— returning 50 per week is woefully inadequate. At 2,600 returns annually, it covers just three weeks’ worth of arrivals, as 600 migrants crossed on the deal’s announcement day alone. And please remember for EVERY illegal we deport (up to 50 per week) we ACCEPT 50 so called “asylum seekers”!!! In other words our numbers can never go down!
Here are some hard facts, Since Starmer took office, 44,000 migrants have arrived, a 42% increase from the previous year. The deal’s pilot scheme, dubbed “17-in, one-out” by Kemi Badenoch, fails to dent these numbers, with 850 weekly arrivals dwarfing the 50 returns. There is the implied abandonment of even pretending to deal with the 800 that arrive EVERY week.
Deal Implementation is also uncertain. The agreement requires EU legal verification, with Home Secretary Yvette Cooper admitting to “concerns” from the European Commission. Southern EU states are already lobbying against it, and the deal’s reliance on French cooperation—historically inconsistent—should raise a red flag!
Immigration Services Union’s Lucy Moreton called it “scratching a very bare minimum of the surface.” Macron’s claim that Brexit fuels the crisis, coupled with his demand that the UK reduce “pull factors” like illegal work, shifts the blame to the UK while offering minimal French action. Financially, the deal also stings. The UK has already handed over £500 million to France with an additional £400 million reportedly committed. And for that? Nothing, that’s what.
Reform Leader Nigel Farage has accurately labelled it a “humiliation for Brexit Britain,” arguing the UK is being “gamed” by savvier French negotiators. Nigel is spot on.
The bottom line is that the Starmer-Macron deal is a political mirage. With crossings soaring and returns negligible, it fails to disrupt smuggling networks or secure borders, leaving taxpayers footing the bill for a massive diplomatic flop.
