Oh Canada...

So Canada’s unelected globalist WEF enthusiastic prime minister, Mark Carney, has just called a snap election on 28 April, firing the starting gun on a contest that is widely expected to focus on the strained relationship with the US amid threats to Canada’s economic and political future.

“We are facing the most significant crisis of our lifetime because of President Trump’s unjustified trade actions and his threats to our sovereignty,” he said. “He wants to break us, so America can own us. We will not let this happen. We’re over the shock of the betrayal, but we can never forget the lessons. We have to look out for ourselves. We have to look out for each other.”

Moments before, Carney met the governor general, Mary Simon, requesting she dissolve the country’s 44th parliament and call an election. Under Canadian federal law, the minimum length of a campaign is 37 days.

It’s pretty obvious what Carney is doing. He is trying to leverage Trump’s repeated aggression and trolling towards Canada into an electoral asset for his Liberal Party. Will he succeed?

The Liberal Party, led by Mark Carney, now leads in some of the recent polls with 42% support, while the Conservative Part, under Pierre Poilievre, is close behind at 39%.

It may be close but I hope he doesn’t because despite his crass rhetoric, Canada cannot face down the USA.

However there is total delusional on this amongst Liberal ranks

Canada's Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly has told the BBC she believes Canada can win the trade war which was sparked by a series of tariffs ordered by US President Donald Trump.

"We are the biggest customer of the US," Joly told the BBC's World Service Weekend programme. "We buy more from the Americans than China, Japan, the UK and France combined."

However, here’s the reality check! Canada’s odds in a trade war with the USA are grim. The USA’s economy, at $23 trillion, towers over Canada’s $1.7 trillion, giving it the muscle to shrug off trade hits that would cripple Canada. Trade-wise, Canada’s hooked—75% of its exports go south, and 50% of its imports come from the USA. Meanwhile, Canada’s just a sliver of US trade (18% exports, 15% imports).

If tariffs impact, like the 25% ones recently slapped on, Canada’s GDP could tank 2.4% in year one, with up to 160,000 jobs lost in places like Quebec, while the USA barely flinches.

The USA has the upper hand in any negotiations too—bigger economy, more global clout. Canada’s productivity lags, and its higher labour costs make it tough to compete when tariffs bite. Add high debt, a slipping dollar, and inflation, and Canada’s is only losing. Simply put, Canada’s too small, too tied to the USA, and too shaky to win this fight and the politicians must know all of this

Yet Carney and his Liberal associates INSIST they will prevail.

This is outstanding calculated cynicism.

The final curiosity here it the role played by US President Trump. There is little doubt that his trolling of Trudeau, his repeated calls for Canada to become the 51st State of the USA, and his sanction, are helping the Liberals. He will know this so I wonder what he is really hoping to achieve here?
