You know it, I know it, we all know it. The British political establishment NEVER wanted Brexit and have done everything possible to delay and dilute it. Under a Conservative Government they had to *pretend* to deliver some sort of half-baked Brexit, but now we have the Starmer-bot in Downing Street, there is no need for any such pretence.
Closer relations between the UK and the European Union (EU) will boost economic growth, Chancellor Rachel Reeves will tell finance leaders on Monday. In the first address by a British chancellor to the Eurogroup since Brexit, Reeves will say that a "reset" in relations would mean "breaking down barriers to trade" as well as helping "businesses sell in each other's markets". While Labour has ruled out re-joining the trade bloc, it has repeatedly said it wants the UK to "deepen ties" with the EU.
Notice all the weasel words. “Reset”, “Deepen ties” .. it is all so obvious, isn’t it? And naturally, the compliant UK media choose to ask no awkward questions and blindly follow her narrative. But perhaps we, in the independent media, can point out a few very inconvenient truths?
For example, Germany has long been the economic power house of the EU. So how’s it doing going int 2025?
Germany, the world's third-largest economy is expected to grow by 0.7% in 2025, down from a previously forecast 1.1%. "In 2025, Germany will bring up the rear among OECD countries," Isabell Koske, from the OECD, told Reuters.
Oh, I see. So by “deepening ties” with an economically contracting EU bloc, Reeves is going to somehow “boost economic growth”? How?
The simple answer is she won’t boost economic growth but then again that’s not the objective.
Bringing the UK back into political and economic alignment with the EU is all that matters to the Labour ideologues who write the scripts that robots like Reeves delivers. Labour voted overwhelmingly to REJECT Brexit in 2016 and nothing has changed. They feel much more ideologically aligned with the Brussels tyranny to start with and many of them resent the fact that the British people voted to get the hell out of the EU in the first place.
Starmer is the consummate EU politician. No fixed principles but a lust for power and to tell people how to live their lives. He would easily fit into the Brussels scene.
Back to Rachel from Accounts! It’s worth pointing out the economic chaos that is contained in her Autumn Budget has yet to fully play it so at a time when she is wrecking the UK economy from within, she seeks to collude with the EU to wreck it from without. It’s not just that she misleads about her CV, she is directing the UK economy into decline and financial chaos.
