Well, the BIG news in the UK that Nigel Farage’s REFORM party has won the Runcorn by election, overturning Labour’s huge majority in their 15th safest seat in the UK!
It was close, VERY close, but a win is a win!
It’s not the super slim margin of victory that you should focus on but the fact that last July Labour won this seat with a 14,000 seat MAJORITY and it’s that which Reform has managed to overturn,
Reform’s winning candidate, and the new MP for the constituency , Sarah Pochin, spoke after the win was announced
No one should underestimate the scale of this achievement. Reform has demonstrated they can get votes from Labour AND Conservative voters and that makes them a formidable electoral force. There’s a reason why Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer did not visit the constituency at any point during the campaign - he knew they would most likely lose and he chose not to be associated with failure. But failure it is.
Remarkable, the Labour official response to this devastating DEFEAT was to repeat the mantra that it means want them to go “faster and further” on their policies. These are the policies that are turning off the electorate! You can’t beat stupid.
The Conservatives didn’t really feature at all in this race, which is ominous for Kemi Badenoch’s Leadership. I think they should junk her and give Jenrick the chance to radicalise the Party.
The local council results won’t really emerge in full until later so I will cover them then.

It's excellent news. I'm technically a supporter as I paid my £25, but like Eleanor the Lowe issue put me off. But there's a lot that can happen in the next couple of years, and anything that increases the pressure on Starmer is good news. At the very least, it will become harder to label the majority as "far right".
‘Further, Faster’ is the mindset of an old school bank robber. As they hear the police sirens in the distance, they speed up the theft, taking as much as they can as quickly as they can. Then they run like hell, and don’t think twice about the damage caused. And definitely don’t be afraid to disable or maim anyone that gets in the way of the job.
