Should we BAN Islam in the West?
Yes, I KNOW it is a provocative headline but I have frequently asked the question “Is Islam compatible with modern pluralist democracies” and I rarely get an enthusiastic “Yes” to this, so let’s take a few moments and examine what Islam has brought to the UK over the the past 50 years and ask if it was worth it
It’s always helpful to approach this with data driven perspective!
50 years ago, there were as few as 30,000 Muslims living in the UK. With so very few living here, practises that we associate with Islam like Halal, Sharia, Polygamy, First Cousin marriage, “Honour killings” and of course Jihad atrocities were all but unknown, or unreported.
However by 2011, the Muslim population had increased to approximately 2.7 million, representing about 4.8% of the population in England and Wales. Even more recently, it is estimated that 4 million Muslims now live here and as such constitute around 6% of the population.
Given that the spread of the muslim population is concentrated in certain areas, we see that in 2019, there were estimated to be approximately 1.28 million Muslims living in London, making it the region of England and Wales with the highest Muslim population. That’s around 15% of the London population.
The London borough with the highest percentage of Muslims is Tower Hamlets, with 38% of residents identifying as Muslim. This makes it the only local authority in England and Wales where the Muslim population is the largest single religious group
Large Muslim populations also live in other English regions, such as the West Midlands, the North West, and Yorkshire.
Against this demographic reality, we can say that Islam is an important feature of modern Britain, like it or not.
Muslims place of worship is in the Mosque and there are estimated to be around 1,825 mosques in the UK. This number has been growing over time, with an increase from 1,640 in 2015. While some mosques are purpose-built, many are converted from existing buildings. Like Churches. We see super Mosques popping up a sign of a surging Islamic population and political approval.
Islam has set up 85 Sharia Councils across the UK. There are 25 Muslim MPs sitting in Parliament. That’s less than 4% of all MPs and yet we discover that the Labour Government attracted 80% of the Muslim vote in 2019 yet this fell in the 2024 election to closer to 60%. Why? These voters wanted a more pro Gaza approach from Labour and so voted for more radical independent Muslim candidates. This is an increasingly confident but aggressive advance in Muslim thinking.
Islam exercises power way beyond its electoral representation and nowhere is this more manifest that in a new working Parliamentary group that has been established to provide government with a working definition of Anti-Muslim Hatred/Islamophobia. In other word, criticism of Islam will be enshrined in law.
And that’s a problem because IF we raise our concerns about issues such as the savagery of Halal slaughter, the danger of first cousin marriages, the threat of Jihad, then these can be closed down instantly. That is not only undemocratic but unhealthy. It raises the question if Islam can peacefully co-exist in a Nation that imposes its standards and laws? If it does, there is no Halal food, there are no sharia courts and there is zero acceptance of polygamy, FGM or consanguinity. If it doesn’t, then it being shaped into something more Islamic and no longer Western.
That’s the choice we face and it may be existential for both the UK and Western.

Yes, it should be banned because it is a political ideology and one of conquest - jihad. It is civilisational suicide to accommodate Islam - it grows and takes over its host. Look at all the muslim countries in the world which will tolerate NOTHING outside of Sharia, and consider our fate if we don't decide that we are part of Christendom and that unless we defend it, we will become yet another liberal civilisation conquered by Islam and dragged back to the dark ages.
Yes Islam should be banned. It's a death cult and if you refuse to bow to their faith, their way of life, the Muslims have openly admitted and declared out loud that they will kill us/you.
