Starmer sends the Armada to the North Pole!
Just when you thought that Sir Keir Starmer could not be any more of a national embarrassment, he confounds us all and proves that he can be even worse!
A few days ago, it was made known that the warship HMS Prince of Wales had been put on five‑days’ notice to sail from Portsmouth, cutting its normal 14‑day readiness, fuelling expectations that a UK aircraft carrier could be sent to the Mediterranean if the conflict widens.
Trump intervened and told Starmer very publicly that he didn’t need the UK to send anything! In one of the greatest acts of public humiliation, Trump posted this over on Truth Social!
Today we learn that the UK will now not be sending ANY aircraft carriers to the Mediterranean but instead will send them to … the North Pole instead!
Well, OK, the Arctic!
HMS Prince of Wales plus escorting warships, support vessels and RAF F‑35 jets will deploying across the North Atlantic and Arctic.
Just a reminded that there is an ACTUAL war in Iran and no ACTUAL war in the north Atlantic! This is another national humiliation. The US does not need us in the Med but is content for us to sail around the Artic.
Under Starmer (and the previous Conservative administrations), the Royal Navy has been reduced to a hollowed out hulk.
In 1982, at the time of the Falklands War, the UK had around 100 warships plus merchant support able to generate a 100+ ship Task Force for a major expeditionary war 8,000 miles away.
In 2026, the UK has around 2 Destroyers that are operational and around 4 Frigates. The Navy personally numbers have dropped from a peak of 73,000 to about 40,000 – a reduction of roughly 45%. Britannia doesn’t rule the waves any longer, in fact we aren’t taken seriously.
I don’t blame those who serve but I do blame the ENTIRE political class over the past four decades who have silently presided over this terrible decline.
Totally agree David. ALL politicians over the last 40 years have let us down badly. Reform cannot come quick enough !
I can think of a couple of reasons why our glorious leader has done this. To protect Greenland should President Trump think of invading 😝. But, more seriously, the Russian threat in the Arctic is quite real although if things kicked off we wouldn’t have much of a chance with the resources at our disposal due to the appalling investment in defence made over the last few decades!
