This is an interesting one. We have recently seen our judges become subject to politically inspired decisions and sentencing.

Are they responsible enough to stand against government and police directives, sometimes via COBRA decisions? Does not their position require them to stand above government, even in the exercise of The Royal Prerogative, and to ensure true Justice? Two-tier Justice is not Justice at all. It is Injustice and should be condemned as such. As some of them will have studied Jurisprudence, they would know this.

Do we follow America’s lead and sort out our Judiciary for their record of wayward decisions? How? This would require governmental intervention which could result in global condemnation. So where do we draw the line? Difficult when the upper echelons of society shroud themselves in secrecy.

I believe this is where the House of Lords, traditionally the highest court in the land, could intervene and reclaim their position. They could demand the abolition of the Supreme Court as unfit for service and re-establish themselves with the patronage and regulation of that great House that it always quietly enjoyed. It would also give an opportunity to weed out politically corrupted judges and bring censure upon them. Otherwise, we have no hope until a Revolution storms in, bringing Republicanism and a Written Constitution in its wake. But who will write that Constitution?
