Under attack!

Just because this UK Government is desperate NOT to be at war with Iran does not mean that Iran cares. And this became obvious, again, when British troops at a coalition air base near Erbil in northern Iraq came under attack.

A swarm of Iranian drones led the most serious assault on British forces in the region since the latest Middle East crisis began. UK air-defence troops deployed at the base succeeded in shooting down two incoming drones, but several others penetrated the defences and struck the installation, which hosts both British and US personnel. While no British soldiers were injured, a number of US service members reportedly suffered minor wounds.

For the avoidance of doubt, these drones are believed to have been launched from Iranian soil, and the attack is being treated as part of Tehran’s ongoing campaign of retaliation following recent US‑Israeli strikes against Iranian targets across the region.

Brigadier Guy Foden, a senior UK commander at Permanent Joint Headquarters, said both Erbil and Baghdad were hit “a number of times” in a highly coordinated series of strikes, underlining the growing sophistication of Iran’s drone tactics.

British forces based at the Erbil base have been tasked with bolstering the air defences of the facility, and have been continuously engaged in intercepting drones since Iran began stepping up its regional response.

The utterly useless Defence Secretary John Healey has confirmed that UK troops brought down two of the drones and stressed that British personnel are playing a central role in protecting the base and its coalition partners. Defensively.

He warned that Iran’s use of drones represents an increasingly dangerous threat to Western forces in Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East He also suggested that Russia is assisting Tehran in refining its drone warfare capabilities, including by providing components and technical expertise.

This claim forms part of a wider Western assessment that Moscow and Tehran are deepening their military cooperation, particularly in the field of unmanned systems.

The Erbil incident is the third major attack on British-linked facilities in recent weeks, following a drone strike on RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus and a missile landing close to UK troops elsewhere in Iraq.

Had the Government ANY courage - and I know that it doesn’t - it would take action against the enemy. It’s worth pointing out that this drone swarm was most likely launched by the IRGC, an organisation that the UK Government steadfastly refuses to outlaw in the UK. So they seek to kill US and we seek to appease them. Old habits die hard in Whitehall as British soldiers try to avoid dying in Erbal, Iraq.

I don’t think I have ever HATED a British Government as much as this one.
