Vance in the Vatican!

I see that US Vice President JD Vance, a steadfast Catholic convert, has engaged in dialogue with the Vatican’s Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and Foreign Minister, Archbishop Paul Gallagher. The Vatican has described this meeting as a “exchange of opinions” focused on pressing global issues, including international conflicts and immigration.

“Exchange of opinions” suggests a rather robust conversation, which is sorely needed as the pro Globalist Vatican is a real problem.

Whilst Pope Francis, recovering from pneumonia, didn’t attend the discussions, they nonetheless underscore the Trump administration’s commitment to aligning where possible with shared values of faith, freedom, and compassion.

This meeting highlights the Trump/Vance dedication to protecting religious liberty and fostering cooperation with institutions like the Vatican. The Vatican’s statement acknowledged the administration’s resolve to safeguard freedom of religion and conscience—core principles championed by Trump and Vance. This contrasts with the Vatican’s miserable failure to stand up for Free Speech and Christianity.

The talks apparently addressed humanitarian concerns, including the plight of migrants, refugees, and prisoners, as well as ongoing wars in Ukraine and Gaza. The Vatican has been overtly pro-Ukraine and pro Gaza. I hope that Vance emphasised the administration’s focus on secure borders and lawful immigration, contrasting with the Vatican’s open borders hypocrisy!

The Trump administration’s policies aim to protect national sovereignty while addressing humanitarian challenges responsibly, ensuring aid and resources are distributed effectively without compromising American interests. This is in direct conflict with what the Vatican has been pushing under Pope Francis

The Vatican’s call for “serene collaboration” with the U.S. Catholic Church reflects a desire to bridge differences, particularly after Vance criticised the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops for resettling undocumented immigrants to secure federal funding. Vance’s stance resonates with many Americans who support legal immigration and accountability in federal spending. While some U.S. cardinals have predictably contested his claims, Vance’s position underscores the administration’s commitment to transparency and fiscal responsibility, prioritising the needs of American citizens. There is not going to be a pass for the US Catholic Bishops.

I see this meeting as a promising step toward constructive dialogue between the Trump administration and the Vatican. Vance’s engagement demonstrates a willingness to talk about global challenges while upholding the administration’s America First agenda. The Vatican can be a force for good or ill, and I hope that VP JD Vance can help influence it towards the former and away from the latter.
