Who was Shakespeare?

Around 2002 I started to read a lot on the topic of the Shakespeare authorship question. Like most people I was well aware of the traditional narrative, I had even visited Stratford upon Avon, I had been to the Globe in London on the banks of the Thames, but I had always felt something was not “quite” right about what I was being told by “the scholars”. Trust the “experts”? No.
