It is the most fundamental responsibility of being a Parent to feed the children that you choose to bring into this world. In short, as my friend Karen puts it, “you breed them, you feed them”. However, in the culture of irresponsibility in which we live, that’s not the case any longer. There’s lot of money to be made in the Poverty industry - just as David Miliband who left the hustle of politics to become the CEO of the International Rescue Charity on an annual salary of £872,094, plus perks! If you want to get rick, young man, get into Poverty!
Consider this from the Magic Breakfast Charity.
Why do 1 in 5 children experience “food insecurity’? What IS “food insecurity”, precisely? Is this implying that 20% of children go to school without being fed by their parent(s)? Why might that be, if true? Maybe Magic Breakfast provide a clue on their website.
In a majority White country, they seem to signal that it is black children that face this problem. Why might that be? Well, according to official data, 63% of Black Caribbean children live in a one-parent home and 43% of Black African children likewise. This markedly contrasts with 19% of White British kids living in a single parent household. Does the absence of two parents in so many black households contribute to the problem of “food insecurity”? Perhaps before we even get to the “don’t breed if you won’t feed” argument, there is something to be said for being in a stable two person relationship. Or, is that racist?
Listen, I fully understand that children should not go to school hungry but THAT core responsibility belongs to their Parents, not the State and certainly not Charities like Magic Breakfast!
Finally, I took a look at Magic Breakfast at Companies House and see that their 2023 income was a whopping £10,506.654! Interestingly, only 59% of that was directed to “tackling child morning hunger” - some of it was used for “campaigning”! Staff costs were £2.8m! So around 30% of total income goes on paying the people who work for this Charity. I see.
If Parents are made to understand that they, and they alone, are responsible for feeding their children, we will create less recklessness and entitlement!
I have an in, at our local primary school. Dolled up mothers, with unkempt children is the norm.
There's a mix of lunch provisions consisting of vegan delights, 🤢, to ones turning up with enough food for a construction worker to do them a few days. The latest one, a newcomer child, had a meal in their bag, with an empty jam jar filled with boiling water to keep the contents beside it, warm.. A recipe for scalded children, should the bag have got jostled..
Imagine if I asked you to feed my pet dog ! It would be ludicrous so why should I feed your children!🤔
