I'm a long-time admirer of Peter Hitchens, but I have grown frustrated with him of late. I think his problem is that he's spent so long saying "I told you so," that he's rather grown to like it. He wallows in the misery of being right about Britain's decline. He doesn't seem to realise or care that there is an entire generation emerging into politics who grew up listening to his views and seeking to change Britain for the better, who would love to work alongside him to achieve it. I recently listened to an interview he gave in which he spoke at length about the constitutional changes Labour made, and concluded by saying that "no one understands this, so they can't do anything about it." It's maddening... YOU UNDERSTAND IT, PETER. Instead of pontificating on Mike Graham's show once a week, why not offer your knowledge to a political party?! But no, he won't have it.
The reason Tommy changed his name was through necessity because of all the threats to himself and family after standing up for what he believed in.Cassius Clay changed his because of Religion and a host of others like Reg (Elton) Richard Starkey (Ringo) did it to further their showbiz careers but I doubt Hitchens still refers to them by former names!
I contacted TR around the same time to describe a scene in his home town when we marked two minutes silence for the dead in July 2005 when a member of my family worked there. He was gracious enough to respond. He’s done way more than Peter who bloviates only to serve himself. Great post David
Really can't stand Hitchens. Arch contrarian who thinks if only everyone was as clever as him then they too would be right all the time.
Case in point was his idiotic stance on the last election; after moaning to people for years about the tories, he tells everyone to vote tory to stop Labour.
Great solution - just vote in the same idiots who'd been blundering about for over a decade and change nothing.
At least this way the utterly cacophanous incompetence of the current govt might drive us towards some sort of change. Tories again would have just been the UK in palliative care
Tommy Robinson exposed the Pakistani Muslim Grooming Gangs many years ago and the UK Government will never forgive him for exposing their cover up of these heinous crimes against under age British girls
Paul Burgess has just done some interesting stuff about Tommy on YouTube about the injustice compares the two fraud convictions of Tommy and Mandleson.
That's true enough about strangers. Even those we once had to have some sort of faith in, til we were forced to reevaluate with the covid scam, were strangers once, until they became household names and were rolled out as quirky men and women by the various media, with our different moral values pandered to in an effort to cement them in our hearts and minds.
Worms turn. Treacherous deeds take place and erode our faith in those we once trusted. Maybe that's not a bad thing. Making us think twice before we blindly follow any other characters. This included Farage, it includes Tommy and many podcasts I used to respect and it includes Trump in the future if he becomes an obvious Deep State puppet.

Yeah Hitchens sticks his nose up to the common man.
