I watched the short documentary by Pieters on Youtube, and she did actually break down and openly cry when reflecting on the episode. She had to take time away from the camera.
You are absolutely right to say that she is a prostitute, albeit one who is also fuelled by a desire for notoriety as well as for money. As such, there doesn't seem to be anything special about her, and the extra shock factor comes from the fact that she is semi-articulate, apparently of middle-class or upper working class origins, and it shows us how anyone can make utterly stupid decisions about their life. It's more difficult to see her as radically different, as she isn't a desperately poor uneducated single mother, or an obvious crack whore. It's uncomfortable to be reminded how close we all are to hell.
As for her plans to increase the numbers, I think people tend to oscillate between moods all the time. Realising that she has made a terrible error, the only way she knows how to deal with it is with another shot of even greater notoriety and money. It's the same with alcoholics and drug addicts: they can temporarily wallow in self-disgust and misery over what they have become, but they already know a little something that can help deal with those feelings...
Heaven help her, let's hope she turns aside from what she is doing to herself.
