tough call. I agree with much of what you write about although being an American I don't have a background on UK politics, so I don't feel qualified to comment about those posts. Another issue for me is that I subscribe to a lot of substacks and I just don't have the time to comment on every one, sometimes not even the time to read the articles. Substack is a great place for writers to share views that would get them kicked off of other platforms but it's become crowded! That's a good thing but the effect is that it takes longer for writers to build up a large following.
I've appreciated your posts. Good luck with whatever you decide.
Much as I enjoy your Substack read I too am somewhat dismayed at the lack of response and likes . So I would have to agree with you if you decided to concentrate on the podcasts. I would be absolutely lost and distraught if you decided to give them up, as I look forward to your angle on topical news stories every day.
I can't imagine the effort that must go in to being a content creator.
I don't know what makes people engage in great numbers. It's not like important topics aren't covered or interesting subjects addressed.
Too much content and you drain your energy and affect your family commitments. Too little and any hopes of making a career from written talents or even covering costs is futile.
I don't get much value from substack as a punter in all honesty. It's just another channel on the TV remote, so to speak. I haven't always the time.
The podcasts, I get more of a chance to enjoy while working.
And as I've said previously, the podcasts helped keep the spirits up over the scamdemic.
Think you should concentrate on just Podbean and Twitter/X being honest Dave. I switched my paid support to Substack as you mentioned that was the best option but I may just revert back to buying you a coffee instead...
Evil social media companies like YouTube deliberately de monetise conservative content creators so they can’t grow their audience and make a living out of their work. Carl Benjamin said he wants to make the lotus eaters into a British Daily Wire. The only way I’m aware of conservatives making their work viable is by selling subscriptions to a newsletter or website. Even Milo couldn’t make his Milo Show work on Gavin Mcguiness’s channel. Last time I checked Telegram he wasn’t on there.
David, firstly I appreciate all the content that you put out. I have donated through Donorbox for a number of years now. I listen religiously to the podcasts and live shows, but even though I subscribed to your Substack it's not a medium I'm overly familiar with. Also because I donate elsewhere I don't get to see the paid posts. With podcast content now being subject to a Substack subscription I think I'll move my subscription from Donorbox over to Substack.
There are many competing podcasts accounts looking for subscriptions. It wouldn't be viable to subscribe to them all. Hower your podcasts are the best around, so I will continue to support them and urge others to as well. Wishing you success for the future.
It's a hard one to comment on for me. More DV content is always welcomed but I can see that getting anything going on any social media is nothing short of impossible.
One thing that strikes me though is that it's clear you have a dedicated cadre of followers who will follow you anywhere; which I'm proud to be part of its number!
This isn't quite the same but I ran a retro gaming channel on YouTube where I employed a very wordy sarcastic tone throughout. I sank 1000s of hours into 40 videos with high production values and I fell off the treadmill every time I tried to put out consistent content. This was entirely down to the fact I never achieved my one simple goal... to have a video watched for longer than it took to produce.
In short, we'll follow you anywhere and if a substack premium subscription isn't the way to support you, there's always podbeans and coffees we'll gravitate towards!
I can’t live without your excellent programming. No matter what I will subscribe AND buy you coffee to support the live and other broadcasts. C And I share on X the highest and best use of X. Not a huge pool but enough to support☺️👍
Thank you Tosca. I might rework the substack model and make it one whereby I push out exclusive to those who like you who actually give appreciable support.
I have stayed away from Insta. Twitter has been my mainstay apart for the years I was thrown off it! But substack is proving a vacuum. That said I love your stuff here.

I notice people read but never like dislike comment or otherwise mostly. But that’s across all socials. I think socials are dying

I will get to the Founding support level.

Keep writing David - if you engage one person a week, it’s more than our politicians do

Hi David! Its Tosca. Please stay with Substack❤️I just subscribed to support your excellence in tuning us into Truth.
Thank you Tosca. I might rework the substack model and make it one whereby I push out exclusive to those who like you who actually give appreciable support.
For example Insta is appalling. Twitter a non starter.
Also its election and Indy day in US.
But my main thoughts on this are that people are now utterly overwhelmed quickly distracted and pressed for time too these days
