David, you're on your own doing this, putting out the equivalent of articles that a national newspaper does, but with topics way more interesting and relevant, not to mention, without deep state spin.
The MSM have many operatives, so burnout wouldn't be as much of an issue. Plus they're probably getting Soros money. I'm happy with my current funding level, apologies for taking you up on your festive discount, I'm not in a high paying job. I do look first thing, to see what you've put out, but if you did 1 a day or even a week, my support is the same, for a like minded, fellow countryman. Who else could have spotted and called out the Judas Goat in chief against a mass back lash.? I saw it, but don't have the power of your vocabulary or media ability.
It's so tough making it in these circles if you're not in the big club..
It's a very good deal. No pressure David you don't have to post three substacks a day here if you don't feel like it. You do all the daily podcasts as well.
Good morning from Canada David. I started out following you and remunerating your excellent work by buying you a coffee. When you moved to Substack I subscribed. This month I upgraded to an annual payment. I looked for a Founding subscriber option and I will look again for this support option for the critical important journalism you publish. I don’t steal. I know right away whats good and what I cannot live without. Who gives their hard work away for free? Nobody. So listen up folks and hit that subscribe button. You won’t regret it!
I appreciate your articles but sadly subscribing is a luxury right now.
I'm in the UK and things are looking grim.
It may also be that our government will soon be coming for Substack under the Online Safety Act 2023, so it's not clear how much will be accessible to us, as a draconian set of rules is now engulfing our free speech.
Your writing is very good. I do not pay subscriptions as there are too many people. I did with Matt Goodwin but cancelled it due to all the Reform debacle.
Honestly you probably do write too much as it must be exhausting. I do a free substack and write intermittently about things I am concerned about. People probably would pay you so maybe you should try paid subscription only. I do not want to commit to having to offer too much and am happy to leave it as a hobby. Take a rest and come back revitalised and lots of luck.
Hi David. I think 3 articles per day is a good deal. However, there are just too many good writers on substack to even be able to read them all, much less become a paying subscriber to each one. I think the problem is not that people are cheap and don't want to pay, it's that there are so many good writers on substack that people can't afford to become a paying subscriber to each one.
Exactly my thoughts! David is intriguing but doesn’t go into as much detail as others do. Only discovered this writer about a month ago, I appreciate most but the report on the JFK files waved a red flag for me. God speed to you.
I love your articles because they are short and to the point and full of great information. Longer articles can feel a bit like homework to read, however good. This is why I subscribe and will continue to subscribe even if you publish fewer articles.
I think it would be a shame to restrict access and I am sure that many appreciate what you do but we are all totting up the subscriptions and finding perhaps that the total bill is more than we can manage.
How about a mixture? Some free - as loss leaders to attract subscribers - and the rest for subscribers only. If you are finding it too much, I would be more than happy with just one a day for my sub.
David, I can appreciate how draining it must be putting all this content out and find your work one of the only places, along with Lotuseaters, we're I can get REAL news and genuine views,
I think a paywall is probably your best option, anyone who wishes to support your hard work will surely be prepared to sacrifice the cost of a coffee or a pint of beer, keep up the great work and Thank You.
I’m a long term subscriber/ supporter. Just put everything behind a paywall. I’d be happy with The David Vance one hour solo, the Thursday live chat, and a couple of shorter podcasts. Maybe just do one podcast at the end of each day discussing the day’s news.
Unfortunately this is the deliberate consequence of censorship and de platforming.
No monetisation from YouTube. No million pound contracts from USAID. No funding from Quangos etc…
There are so many people on the left being propped up by tax payer money via the Quangocracy it infuriates me.
If I were you David I would either go all out and aim to set up something like the Lotus Eaters or stick to doing off the cuff podcasts (which take less time and preparation) until the dust settles from the online safety bill/ Ofcom policing the internet. It may be that we will all need VPNs to access decent content from America.
I've been happy to pay £5, David. I see it as support for all you do, not just Substack. If you only did one Substack a day (or less) I would not complain. There are still lots of podcasts, which are very much appreciated. In fact they are for me, the best about.
There are podcasts I listen to and don't pay for. So, I'm not being sanctimonious. Just that I've followed you for years and think your output deserves a small outlay each month, so I prioritise it over others.
So if it's too much, please think about yourself first and your own life away from the online world, and don't let that suffer.
Hopefully more will contribute.
If you pull the plug or go behind a paywall I'll stick with you.
I just counted and I’ve got 12 paid subscriptions. What generally happens is I read articles and then if I am sparked I become a paid subscriber. I can’t manage to read everything. So many great writers here. You’re certainly on my shortlist to subscribe to. I’ll do my best to support you. I do appreciate the effort and time. My problem is the sheer volume of good writers. I wasn’t aware of your podcasts so I’ll look out for those. I like audio as I can listen while doing other things.
Thank you Jane, I appreciate all of that. I totally get what you are saying! I was having a down day yesterday, I am usually very ebullient and am committed to bring my best content here!
David, I remembered you from Brexit days on Twitter and you’re as astute and erudite now as then! (I no longer do Twitter/X). So, I gave you a year’s subscription because I like your style and want you to keep going. I don’t have the time for three articles a day but may I suggest a shorter article for browsers, to attract more subscribers, and a bit more substantial one from behind a pay wall? It is enough.
I will mention that my other subscription is to Dan Wootton, who uses video and adverts, which you might get round to considering, and I have the Epoch Times daily online too. I no longer see much of Mahyar Tousi because, despite being brave and honest, he’s a bit long-winded for those of us with limited time!

I think it might be good for you to put it under under a pay wall. You provide a very good service with so many articles you’re putting out at a time.
Thank you Nicole. I appreciate the kind advice.

I've been meaning to subscribe. I'm sorry I've been forgetting. Will do so upon arriving home from errands today.

There are probably a dozen writers who only want £5 a month. Then there’s those not on Substack who as the same. It adds up.
I do understand that and appreciate your feedback!
