I prefer silence. I have music playing in my head all the time and I don’t like interruptions of that flow so to speak. Im a bit of a hermit with my pets and books. I also swim with my head out of the water. Anytime spent in the forest and the high country above the tree line is the best. I prefer to go it alone. And this leads to enlightenment sometimes. Then i take a picture.
Silence is my preferred background soundscape. I wear earbuds in crowds to dim the noise. Noise to me feels like a physical assault. I would be much better living anywhere but downtown Toronto, where noise is everywhere and constant.
I would suggest adding to your Spotify list an old 60s hit “silence is golden” Originally recorded by the four seasons but for me the Tremeloes 1967 version is the best by far.Make sure to play it “quietly “😆
And BTW David, you are a true artist. You are a very good writer and more disciplined than most. And I can tell that you also have music.
Thx Linda. I have music in my head all the time too. We are alike

I love silence also. I can’t have anything blaring through sound systems as I write, in particular, I get annoyed.

Know it well!!
Our two childer, both adult, constantly have headphones on. Juggling numerous tasks with no opportunity for silence to creep in.
When I get an idea, I grab the headphones, crank up the 'brown noise' and type until done.
