Someone on Twatter has said that William using the past tense when he says "she'd have loved to be here' (at the D day) is as if she's gone. I don't think we can infer anything from that.
David this is one of the strangest stories I've ever heard. She can't just not return unless something really bad has happened. Surely she can't be dead that would be insane.
