The Republicans were wiretapping DNC phones as far back as 1968 and had been setting aside political donations to fund their illegal espionage efforts for five years before Watergate even broke. Several senior Republican law officers including a state deputy attorney general subsequently testified that they had been offered cash to take part in these illegal activities but had declined. All this is a matter of record.
And Deep Throat was an informant from the FBI, not the CIA. If you're confusing those two agencies in a story about Watergate you clearly know F-all about it.
